Seniors Week at Wesley ‘in the City’

Wesley ‘in the City‘ is excited to be a part of the upcoming Seniors Week activities from October 1 to 7.

The Museum is running Remember, Connect, Discover sessions on Friday 1 Octover (11.30am - 1.30pm), Sunday 3 October (11am to 12noon) and Monday 4 October to Thursday 7 October (11am to 1.30pm). Come along and explore the museum. Bring your photographs relating to Wesley and we will copy them to the museum’s digital collection.

An introductory class in movement and rotation, breathing awareness and techniques in releasing tight joints, muscles and tendons is being held on Saturday 2 October from 10.30 to 12pm. Booking required.

A concert with Nico Bester and friends follwed by refreshments will be held on Sunday 3 October from 3pm to 4pm. Cost $10 bookings appreciated, door sales available.

A friendly exercise session for seniors will be conducted by Erin of Friendly Fitness Solutions from 11am to 12noon on Monday October 4. Bookings required.

Come along, instrument on not, for a traditional folk jam with the Folk Federation musicians and friends from 12.15pm to 1.45pm on Wednesday 6 October.

Line Dancing instructor Jill Canton will take you through the gentle exercise of line dancing which is good for the body and mind on Thursday 7th October from 9.30 to 10.30am. Bookings required.

All activities are free unless otherwise specified. Bookings for any of the above sessions can be made between 10am and 2pm weekdays with the Church Office on 6231 4033.

Hobart 2020 meeting

There will be a meeting of the Hobart 2020 group for church leaders at Bellerive Uniting Church on Monday 13th September at 7.30pm. The dynamic English cleric the Rev. Lord Andrew Mawson will address the meeting. Flyers detailing some of his work are available from the Church Office.

All welcome to a Bible Study on Wednesdays. An introduction to the wisdom literature of the Old Testament—Job, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. 1.30pm each Wednesday in the Wesley Church Chapel led by David Wright.

Cancer Council Morning Tea

Preparing for Worship Sunday, 11th April 2010

We are looking forward to welcoming Rev. Allan Thompson who will lead us in worship this Sunday whilst David is on leave.¬† We will be celebrating Holy Communion in the Church at 10.00am.¬† All are welcome to share in Holy Communion.¬† There will be a chance to meet over a cuppa in the Hall from 11.00am.

If you would like to contribute or request prayers we invite you to do so and to visit our Prayer Garden.¬† We do ask that prayer requests be sensitive to and respect personal privacy.

Worship at Wesley during April 2010

Whilst our Minister Rev David Parker is on leave through April, 2010, worship will be led by Rev.¬† Allan Thompson (April 11 - Holy Communion), Mr Andrew Wood (April 18), Mr Nigel McBrien (April 25 - ANZAC Day).¬† Nigel will also lead Family Worship in the Hall on May 2.¬† David returns to lead worship on May 9.¬† We wish David a restful and safe time away.

The Ticket

The Ticket First Issue¬†¬† On Saturday night, the Friends of the Wesley Hobart Museum produced their first issue of The Ticket - the new quarterly newsletter of the Museum Committee.¬† We were delighted with the effort and with the fact that we were able to distribute copies to the large congregation who worshipped with us on Easter Day. We wish the newsletter every blessing for its onward journey.
